The Story of Patisserie Boissiere
Foundation
Over half a century ago, Elaine and Pierre Boissiere founded the iconic Patisserie Boissiere in Carmel-by-the-Sea. They envisioned a comforting European chateau-style venue with carefully spaced tables, fresh flowers, a fireplace, candles, and soothing music—creating a serene ambiance. This laid the foundation for serving French country food and daily-baked authentic pastries.
New Owners
Enter Giuliano Costagliola, the latest owner, dedicated to carrying on Patisserie Boissiere’s rich tradition. With extensive experience in French restaurants, Giuliano brings European flair to this idyllic Carmel location.
Giuliano’s global journey began in a coastal village near Naples. Fluent in several languages, he honed his skills as a Manager, Maitre’d, and Captain in esteemed European establishments, from The Savoy in London to La Terrassa at the Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich.
In 2003, Giuliano and Lydia, his wife and Monterey native, moved to California. Giuliano has since worked at local restaurants in Carmel-by-the-Sea, including Casanova, Bernardus, Andres Bouchee, and L’Auberge.
